Why Is Oral Health Important!

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

Good oral and dental hygiene can help prevent bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease.

An unhealthy mouth, especially if you have gum disease, may increase your risk of serious health problems such as hearth attack, stroke, poorly controlled diabetes, and preterm labor.

Poor dental health increases the risk of bacterial infection in the blood stream, which can affect the heart valves. Toot loss patterns are connected to coronary artery disease.

A new study from Finland found in a study of 500 people needing root canal, they were 3 times more likely to have heart disease. The connection between poor oral health and overall health , may not be limited to cardiovascular disease. Studies have linked periodontal disease and rheumatoid arthritis.

With dentist's offices being closed during this pandemic, its more important now than ever, not to neglect your oral health. With that being said, I would like to talk about my favorite product of the week, which is an activated charcoal toothpaste by Zionhealth. I bought this toothpaste just few weeks before the pandemic, and I am so impressed by its quality and effectiveness in cleaning my teeth and gums. Its an activated charcoal mineral toothpaste, fluoride free, gluten free, made with xylitol and green tea extract. Activated Charcoal is known to help remove stains and absorb toxins. Green Tea extract contains anti-inflammatory properties to support healthy gums, and teeth.

Don't neglect your oral health during this Covid-19 pandemic, Stay well and stay safe. Dr. Naghmeh
