Supplements for Healthy Weight

As you already know, I am not an advocate for any specific diets that are out there, whether its Low-carb, Keto-diet, calorie-deficit, ..etc. There are hidden side effects of many popular diets, and they have their drawbacks, too. I will dedicate a full post on some potential side effects of these diets out there in a future post.

What I do believe in, is long-term healthy eating. Meaning: eating real foods and taking supplements that are essential for keeping your body healthy.

With that being said, I think there are some vitamins and supplements that are essential in any types of diet, to make sure your body is functioning optimal.

1- Multivitamin : When you are following a strict diet it can seem challenging to get enough essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber on a daily basis, considering you are reducing the variety of foods you eat. A good quality multivitamin can support electrolyte balance, since they provide minerals like magnesium, potassium, and calcium.

- A multivitamin that is a favorite of mine is by Ritual, which is clean, vegan, and backed by clinical research. You can click on my link to learn all about Ritual. They have multivitamins for men, women, and prenatal vitamins for pregnancy.

2- Probiotics : Whether you are on a low-carb diet or not, probiotics are multi-functional supplements that can support overall health in many ways.

Purchase a formula that contains both prebiotics and other ingredients designed to support digestion and healthy immunity. ( see my gut-healing supplements under my dispensary at fullscript)

3- Turmeric : When it comes to promoting a healthy immune response, turmeric is a fan favorite and one of the most well-researched supplements on the market. Its active ingredient curcumin, has far-reaching benefits such as support for healthy metabolic function, joint comfort and much more.

4- Collagen : If you are looking to support a healthy gut and the health of your skin, hair, and nails, then supplementing with collagen protein is wise.

Collagen is the most abundant type of protein found in human body, helping to form connective tissue, promote skin health and holding the body together like glue.

If following a keto-diet, look for a collagen powder that is free of added sugar and is low in carbs.

5- Ashwagandha : You can eat the healthiest diet in the world, but if you are battling chronic stress on a daily basis, your health is still going to suffer. This is where adaptogen herbs- which include ashwagandha and others like rhodiola or astragalus- come into play.

My to go ashwagandha supplement is by pure-encapsulation .

6- Digestive Enzymes : Enzymes can be especially helpful if you are transitioning from a diet that previously didn't include much fat, or if you have a history of having trouble digesting fats for other reasons.

As always , consult with your pharmacist/ or health care provider before starting any supplements or prior to starting any dietary or lifestyle regimen.
