Root Causes of Hair loss in Women

Are you experiencing hair loss and are not sure why its happening ?

Hair loss is a common complaint that I hear among women in my daily practice in the pharmacy. It can be frustrating when your hair is thinning and falling out more than usual.

As I have said this before, with any symptoms, its important to find out why it is happening so you can find the root cause.

In women, hair loss is mostly due to hormonal imbalances and nutrient deficiencies.

Some examples include :

- Thyroid issues

- Insulin resistance

- Postpartum

- Stress

- Low levels of some vitamins : B-complex, Zinc, Iron, Biotin, Omega 3 fatty acids

- Prescription medications

- Once the underlying cause of hair loss is addressed and is resolved, hair will regrew with time.

- August is national " Hair Loss Awareness" month, so watch for more posts on this topic including ; nutritional supplements, Lab tests to order, and managing stress.

- In the mean while make sure to read my previous blog posts on hair health, and check out my Fullscript dispensary (https://us.fullsript.com/welcome/nrameshni ) for some of my favorite supplements to support hair growth.

Stay well,

Dr. Naghmeh
