Omega-3 Fatty Acids

There are over 30,000 studies supporting the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that you must get from your diet. These incredibly healthy fats have important benefits for your body and brain.

However, most people who eat a standard western diet are not eating nearly enough omega-3.

Official guidance states we should all be having 2 servings of fish weekly, preferably oily fish such as salmon or sardines.

There are many fatty acids that belong to the omega-3 family. The most important ones are EPA, DHA, and ALA.

EPA is for cardiovascular health and DHA for brain function and cognitive performance, in times of stress.

EPA and DHA are found in seafood and fish, while ALA is mostly abundant in high-fat plant foods.

Omega-3 fatty Acids have been shown to have powerful health benefits on the following conditions:

1-Cancer

2- Fatty Liver

3- Depression and anxiety

4- Inflammation and pain

5- ADHD

6-Asthma

7- Baby development

8- Dementia

People who don't frequently eat fatty fish or seafood should consider taking an omega-3 supplement. Fish, krill, and algal oil are good choices.

According to FDA, taking up to 2,000mg of combined EPA and DHA per day from supplements is safe. In high doses, omega-3s have blood-thinning effects. Speak to your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood thinning medications.

The challenge most patients have is to find an omega-3 fatty acid that is vegan, and gelatin free.

Truvani's plant-based omega is made with responsibly-sourced algal oil, carrageenan-free, and gelatin-free. The new Omega-3 they have is vegan, non-GMO, high DHA algae, and provides 500mg of DHA from algae.
