Evening primrose Oil

Evening primrose oil is usually taken for skin disorders such as eczema, acne, dry skin. women also use evening primrose for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), breast pain, and symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes. Some women report that their PMS symptoms, feelings of depression, irritability, breast tenderness, and bloating is being eased by taking evening primrose oil.

Evening Primrose Oil may have a positive effect on hair loss caused by hormonal factors. The reason because it contains high levels of Omega-6 fatty acid- GLA. GLA is believed to stimulate hair growth. The fatty acid may help reduce inflammation and improve hair health.

There is a blood-thinning effect with evening primrose oil, so therefore, patients on warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel should not use evening primrose oil.

Side effects are usually mild and may include : stomach upset, stomach pain, headache, and soft stool. Since there is no standard dosing, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist to get advise about the proper dosage of evening primrose oil. To reduce the rise of side effects, always use the lowest dose possible.
