Sudden hair loss can happen after any stressful event, including major surgery or even an emotional stressor such as starting a new job. This pandemic appears to have led to a large increase in people who are seeing their hair thinning.
In the majority of cases , this is due to Telogen Effluvium, which usually begins three to six months after the stressor has happened, and in most patients , the problem usually resolves within 4-6 months.
Researchers do not believe that Covid-19 attacks the hair follicles, but, the hair loss is the body's reaction to the physiological and emotional stress that the disease has caused.
There are various treatments for telogen effluvium, including supplements and topical treatments like Rogaine.
Obviously anyone with new or worsening hair loss should go to see a board-certified dermatologist to rule out other causes, such as thyroid problems or side effects from medications.

In my previous posts here and on Instagram I have also talked about the type of shampoos and oils that are helpful for healthy hair. Your shampoo should be gentle and sulfate free, and try to not wash your hair everyday, since it dries up the hair. One of my favorite shampoos is by Wow Skinscience : Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo.

Lastly, not the least, Yes, what you eat can help support hair growth too :
Eat ample protein & it’s more than most people think.
Get plenty of antioxidants, including vitamin C.
Include biotin in your diet. ( Nutrafol has biotin in it )
Eat good sources of minerals. Meat, vegetables, bone broth.
Eat fatty fish or take an Omega-3 supplement.
If you are losing an unusually large amount of hair, Consult with your doctor first to get a diagnosis, to make sure your hair loss is not related to an underlying medical conditions.
