Causes Of Nutrition Deficiency And How To Fix It:

Thank you for all the positive feedbacks on my post how nutrient deficiency can cause depression and anxiety.

Today I like to discuss some causes of nutrition deficiency and what can be done to fix it.

1- A Nutrient-poor and Inflammatory Diet

If you are eating a poor diet with lots of processed food, refined sugars, and white flour then your meals are completely devoid of nutrients your body needs. Inflammatory foods such as gluten, dairy, sugar, eggs, and caffeine can cause leaky gut , which leads to nutrient mal-absorption and health problems.

Therefore, eat a nutrient-dense diet- Getting nutrients through food is the best method and an essential step.

Try to eat anti-inflammatory foods such as : Turmeric, Salmon, Fermented foods, Matcha, Onion, Blueberries, and Broccoli Sprouts.

2- Repair Your Gut

If you are dealing with a leaky gut, even if you eat a diet of real, whole foods, it may not be enough, so you need to repair your gut. You have to remove the inflammatory foods, toxins, and allergens.

Restore good digestion and nutrient absorption by using digestive enzymes and high quality probiotics.

3- Genetic Mutations

Common gene mutations can reduce your body's ability to convert nutrients, including B vitamins, folate, and choline to their active form. If you are curious about your unique genetics, you can ask your doctor for a genetic test.

4- Add High-Quality Supplements

Our nutrient-depleted soils and toxic environment make it difficult to rely just on food alone. So high-quality supplements can fill the gap and provide the nutrients you need. ( Read my post on how to choose supplements )

Some of the supplements I would recommend to take daily are : Multivitamin, Vitamin D, Omega 3, Vitamin B, and Magnesium.

Once you understand which nutrient deficiencies may be causing your mood imbalances, the root causes of these deficits, and how to correct them, you can be on your way for a better mental and physical health journey.
